Boarding the Symphony of the Seas there were many things I was excited to experience, Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade was at the very top of the list. After being on nearly 25 Royal Caribbean Cruises I was ready for something new and Playmakers did not disappoint!
This new Royal Caribbean specialty experience is located on the Boardwalk onboard Symphony of the Seas, offering alfresco dining and enough TV'S to catch the big game from anywhere you sit. Past the main dining area and the shuffle board tables is direct access to one of the arcades with additional seating and table service. From appetizers to desserts Playmakers takes pub food to a level I didn't know possible. If you are looking for the food that you do not feel guilty about eating on vacation, you found it.
(Pile on Nachos with Pulled Pork)
We started with the "Pile on Nachos," crispy corn chips topped with the most amazing gooey cheese mixture with onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, and pulled pork, the works!
(Playmakers Wings BBQ and Buffalo)
Next, the chicken wings. Some marinated in BBQ sauce, the others in a mild buffalo sauce, both served with creamy blue cheese for dipping. For those of you who like it spicy you can choose the heat level of your buffalo wings from "Little League, Minor League or Major League" we had the little league heat level.
(Lay Up, Baller, and Pigskin Sliders)
We all know a main pub favorite are sliders of course and Playmakers brings their best "sliders game." Choose from Portabella Mushroom, BBQ Pulled Pork and a classic Meat Patty or chose all three! We, of course, wanted all three. From the crunchy juiciness of the portabella mushroom to the tangy sweet pulled pork and the mouthwatering, perfectly tender meat patty with melted cheese and marinara will put your taste buds in a coma.
(Playmakers Burger and Fries)
The Playmakers Burger, what can I say? How about holy burger! This two beef patty burger cooked to perfection is piled high with fried onion rings, crispy bacon, melted cheddar, onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles, a secret house sauce, on a toasted brioche roll served with "playmakers fries." Now let's talk about "Playmakers Fries" crispy sliced potato wedges topped with ceasar dressing and shaved parmesan cheese! Mouthwatering can not even describe the deliciousness of these fries.
(Touchdown Sundae and Campfire Cookie)
Lastly, but should always be first, dessert. Choose from two incredible desserts at Playmakers, Touchdown Sundae and Campfire Cookie. Probably the new most famous dessert that you have seen pictures of everywhere, the Touchdown Sundae. This sundae starts with strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, sea salt caramel, cookies and cream ice cream topped with caramel, chocolate, whipped cream, sprinkles, and cookies served in a football helmet. Before we get ahead of ourselves let's not forget the "Campfire Cookie." This oversized cookie is made to order cooked to almost completion then smeared with Nutella, and baked until golden, topped with toasted marshmallows, caramel, and chocolate served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a shot of ice-cold milk!
