Remember those days when cruise ship entertainment was just ok? Back when cruise lines did not pay attention to entertainment because "that is not their business" well, times change. The newest and largest cruise ships in the world allow cruise lines to push the limits of entertainment and even put Broadway in second place. Royal Caribbean has absolutely outdone themselves onboard Symphony of the Seas. I have seen countless Broadway, and original productions onboard Royal ships and, for the most part, and I have enjoyed them. Onboard Symphony I went from enjoying them to being completely and utterly amazed!
Symphony of the Seas has her very own production of the Broadway classic, Hairspray . Having seen Hairspray on Broadway, on tour, and onboard Oasis of the Seas in 2013 my expectations were high. Words cannot describe how incredibly impressed I was with this production. From the talent from all over the world together on one stage to the 100% live vocals and the sets, blown away is an understatement. Royal Caribbean has taken an incredible Broadway classic and made it far better than ever before. If you do not see this show you are going to miss one of the main things that puts Royal Caribbean steps above their competition.
After seeing many Royal Caribbean original productions, I have been left unsatisfied for the most part. I always give the original productions a chance, so I settled into my seat in the main theater to witness the newest original production, "Flight." The premise of this show is the history of the aviation industry which I enjoyed because the talent was incredible and the history that the show highlights I have incredible respect for. Just as I made my decision of being "pretty impressed" with this show during the final scene the opinion of being "pretty impressed" went to "absolutely enthralled." I will not give the final scene away, but it is one of the only shows that has ever given me goosebumps. This show you absolutely must see and stay till the very end!
If you are booked onboard Symphony make reservations for these shows before doing another thing! I have conveniently left a link that will take you directly to the cruise planner here!
