MSC Cruises is set to make a major splash in the Southern Caribbean with the announcement of MSC Opera’s brand-new year-round itineraries from La Romana, Dominican Republic, beginning November 16, 2026. This marks a historic first for the cruise line, as it deploys a ship in the South Caribbean during the summer season and, for the first time, operates two ships in the region throughout the winter.

The move highlights MSC Cruises’ continued expansion in the Caribbean and offers travelers more flexibility than ever before. MSC Opera will offer 7-night itineraries with the option to combine voyages into 14-night “butterfly” cruises that visit an enticing lineup of destinations across the Southern Caribbean.

The ship will homeport in La Romana and, starting in April 2027, offer a second embarkation port from Fort-de-France, Martinique. These new cruises are now available for booking and cater to guests looking to explore sun-drenched islands year-round.

Highlights of MSC Opera's Southern Caribbean Itineraries Include:

  • La Romana, Dominican Republic – A new homeport for MSC Cruises, offering beautiful beaches, cultural experiences, and access to attractions like the Cueva de las Maravillas.

  • Catalina Island, Dominican Republic – A private tropical escape known for snorkeling, diving, and serene white sands.

  • Fort-de-France, Martinique – A vibrant cultural hub surrounded by rainforests, distilleries, and stunning coastline.

  • Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands – Famous for The Baths and lush hiking trails at Gorda Peak.

  • St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda – A colorful capital offering historical landmarks and access to some of the Caribbean’s most picturesque beaches.

Additional ports of call include Oranjestad (Aruba), Bridgetown (Barbados), Willemstad (Curaçao), Kralendijk (Bonaire), Samana Bay (Dominican Republic), and more, totaling over a dozen unforgettable stops.

Joining MSC Opera for Winter 2026/2027 will be MSC Seaview, which will also operate from Fort-de-France, offering her own series of 7-night Southern Caribbean cruises to destinations such as Dominica, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

With this bold expansion, MSC Cruises is reaffirming its commitment to providing immersive travel experiences in one of the world’s most enchanting cruise regions. The combination of two ships, year-round service, and diverse itineraries promises a new era of exploration for Caribbean cruise enthusiasts.
