Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD and ITM Group's new joint venture Holistica Destinations announced it's first Major Project in the Bahamas. The development will be in Freeport, Grand Bahama, with an initial investment of $300 million. The project includes the enhancement and expansion of the cruise port, soon to be called "Harbour Village," and the Lucayan Property, which will be situated at the current Grand Lucayan Resort.
Lucayan Property:
Phase one of the development will include a world-class beachfront 526 room hotel, shopping village, spa and wellness center, a massive water and adventure theme park, 40,000 square foot convention center, adventure activities, entertainment and lively nightlife. Due to Holistca's impressive reputation of immersing guests with the local culture, we can expect to have incredible, culturally enriching experiences.
Harbour Village:
Located nine miles west of Lucayan Property at the cruise terminal in freeport, Harbour Village will be the newly expanded and enhanced cruise port of Grand Bahama. Visitors will enjoy dining venues, shopping spaces, beach areas, shore excursions, and engaging activities for all guests.
Construction Details:
The project in entirety is expected to be finished by the winter of 2022. At peak construction times, this project will create nearly 3,000 jobs for construction and operations. The cruise port is said to be able to accommodate the largest cruise ships in the world come completion of the project.
Bahamian companies are coming together to repair and enhance the infrastructure of Freeport, which was ravaged by Hurricane Dorian in 2019. Better infrastructure will allow Grand Bahama to accommodate the largest ships, with nearly 7,000 passengers filling the island from just one of these ships. This is the beginning of the complete rebuild of Freeport, Grand Bahama, with Royal Caribbean continuing with its oath to assist the Bahamas after the horrendous damage from Dorian.
