On Sunday, March 1, 2020, Virgin Voyages announced that Scarlet Lady would sail directly to Miami, Florida, and no longer port in New York City. Scarlet Lady was scheduled to arrive in New York City on March 5 after her transatlantic journey from Liverpool. The New York Cancelation ends Scarlet's world tour early and will allow her more time to get accustomed to her home, Miami.
New York Events Cancelled:
Open Dining for New Yorkers: March 7
Scarlet Lady Showcase: March 8-10
Scarlet Lady New York to Miami March 10
In a statement to partners invited to attend the New York Events, John Diorio, Associate Vice President- North America Sales, said this:
"As we near Scarlet’s debut we want to ensure the world is truly focused on her gorgeous design and drive to change vacations at sea forever. With that said, and in light of current global headlines, we have decided not to stop in New York and instead take Scarlet Lady directly to her new home in Miami. We have absolutely no health concerns or issues onboard. The elevated health protocols and processes we put in place when we took delivery of Scarlet Lady have kept our Crew and their family and friends well and happy."
As all North Easterners will have to patiently wait for a chance to see the beautiful Scarlet Lady, we applaud Virgin for being proactive and taking proper precautions to keep their passengers, crew, and employees safe and healthy!
