Scenic Group Celebrates 40 Years With Major Fleet Expansion and New Luxury Ships

Scenic Group is celebrating its 40th anniversary with ambitious plans to expand its luxury river cruise and yacht fleets, introducing new ships across Europe, India and Southeast Asia while preparing to debut its newest Discovery Yacht, Scenic Ikon, in 2028.
Founded in Australia in 1986, Scenic Group has grown into a global cruise and travel company offering journeys across all seven continents through its Scenic and Emerald Cruises brands.
The anniversary comes during a significant period of fleet development, with new river ships, luxury yachts and expanded itineraries scheduled between 2027 and 2028.
Scenic Group Founder and Chairman Glen Moroney said the company's continued expansion has been guided by passenger feedback and its ability to design, build, own and operate its fleet.
“From our beginnings in Australia in 1986, we have grown into a global travel group spanning all seven continents,” Moroney said. “Throughout that growth, our vision has remained the same: to continually elevate how our guests experience the world.”
New Scenic and Emerald River Cruise Ships Coming in 2027 and 2028
Scenic Group's expansion will bring new river cruising opportunities to Europe and Asia, including itineraries in India and Southeast Asia.
In Europe, Emerald Lumi is scheduled to join Emerald Cruises & Tours in 2027, expanding the company's river cruise offerings along France's Seine River.
India will also become an important part of Scenic's future river cruise portfolio, with journeys along the Hooghly River planned for 2027 and another ship expected to operate on the Brahmaputra River in 2028.
Meanwhile, Scenic Spirit II and Scenic Spirit III are scheduled to launch on Southeast Asia's Mekong River in 2028.
These additions will expand Scenic Group's presence in established European river cruise markets while opening more opportunities for travelers interested in exploring destinations across Asia.

Emerald Cruises Expands Its Luxury Yacht Fleet
Scenic Group's ocean cruising expansion will continue with two additional Emerald yachts scheduled to debut over the next two years.
Emerald Raiya is expected to enter service in 2027, followed by Emerald Xara in 2028.
The new vessels will expand Emerald Cruises' luxury yacht portfolio, providing additional opportunities to explore destinations including the Seychelles.
The growth will also strengthen Scenic Group's presence in the Asia-Pacific region, where Scenic Eclipse II is scheduled to return in 2028 alongside the arrival of Emerald Xara.

Scenic Ikon Will Be Significantly Larger Than Scenic Eclipse
Among the most anticipated additions to the fleet is Scenic Ikon, the company's newest ultra-luxury Discovery Yacht, scheduled to debut in April 2028.
The ship will begin sailing in the Mediterranean before expanding its inaugural season to include destinations such as Antarctica.
One of the most notable aspects of Scenic Ikon is its size compared with the company's existing Discovery Yachts, Scenic Eclipse and Scenic Eclipse II.
The new ship is expected to be approximately 50% larger by gross tonnage than the Eclipse-class vessels, but its standard maximum passenger capacity will increase from 228 to just 270.
That represents only 42 additional passengers despite the substantial increase in ship size.
The additional space is expected to support expanded amenities and public areas while maintaining the smaller passenger capacity associated with the company's ultra-luxury cruising experience.
Scenic Ikon is also planned to feature 135 suites, 15 dining venues and a two-level spa, along with the expedition capabilities associated with Scenic's Discovery Yacht collection.

Scenic Group Marks Its 40th Anniversary With Special Sailings
Throughout October 2026, Scenic and Emerald Cruises & Tours are celebrating the company's four decades of operation with special onboard events and commemorative experiences.
Passengers sailing on select departures can enjoy themed entertainment, specialty dining events and anniversary celebrations.
The company has also planned selected Scenic & Emerald Rewards loyalty departures.
Among the featured voyages is the annual Scenic Discovery Yachts Chairman's Voyage in the United States, with events planned in Wilmington, Charleston and Key West.
Another anniversary sailing includes a Scenic Romantic Rhine & Moselle river cruise, featuring a Switzerland land extension and an exclusive dinner in Lucerne hosted by Scenic Group management.
Tom Goetter, Vice President of Oceans Hotel Operations, said the celebrations are designed to recognize the people who have contributed to the company's development.
“These moments are an opportunity to share the Scenic Group story with our guests and recognize the people, care and attention to detail behind every journey,” Goetter said.

Scenic and Emerald Cruises Offer $200 Anniversary Savings
In addition to the fleet announcements and anniversary celebrations, Scenic Group has introduced a limited-time offer for travelers in the United States and Latin America.
From October 12 through October 26, 2026, travelers can save an additional $200 per person on select 2026 and 2027 departures using promotional code BOOST26.

Looking Ahead to Scenic Group's Next 40 Years
While its anniversary celebrates four decades of operations, Scenic Group's upcoming fleet expansion places considerable attention on the company's future.
From new river cruise ships in India and Southeast Asia to additional Emerald yachts and the arrival of Scenic Ikon, the company is preparing to broaden its offerings in several cruise markets.
“Anniversaries naturally allow us to look back, but for us, 40 years is really a launching point for what comes next,” said Ken Muskat, Scenic Group President, USA & LATAM.
With new ships scheduled through 2028, Scenic Group's fifth decade will begin with a larger fleet and an expanding selection of destinations around the world.
