MSC World Asia is coming to the Caribbean for the Winter 2027–2028 season as part of a major deployment update announced by MSC Cruises. The new World Class flagship will operate seven- and 14-night South Caribbean cruises, with travelers able to embark in Barbados, Martinique or Guadeloupe. MSC World Europa will remain in the Western Mediterranean instead of repositioning to the Middle East as previously scheduled. The deployment changes will affect some travelers currently booked aboard MSC World Asia, MSC World Europa and MSC Meraviglia.
MSC World Asia will sail in the South Caribbean
MSC World Asia will leave the Mediterranean for the South Caribbean during the Winter 2027–2028 season, marking a significant deployment change for MSC Cruises’ newest flagship.
The ship will operate both seven- and 14-night itineraries, with embarkation available from three Caribbean ports:
Bridgetown, Barbados
Fort-de-France, Martinique
Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe
The availability of multiple embarkation ports will give travelers greater flexibility when choosing where to begin their cruise. The 14-night options will also make it possible to explore a broader selection of islands during one extended vacation.
MSC World Asia’s South Caribbean itineraries are expected to include visits to:
Castries, Saint Lucia
St. George’s, Grenada
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda
Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis
Roseau, Dominica
Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
Exact destinations, departure dates and port combinations will vary by sailing. The deployment will place one of MSC Cruises’ largest and newest ships in the heart of the Caribbean during the region’s popular winter cruise season.
Cliffhanger is heading to the Southern Caribbean
One of MSC World Asia’s most recognizable attractions will be Cliffhanger, the over-water swing found aboard MSC Cruises’ World Class ships. Positioned along the side of the vessel, Cliffhanger carries riders beyond the ship while they are suspended high above the ocean. The attraction includes four swing seats and combines open-water views with added thrill.

MSC World Asia will feature the largest Venchi experience in the fleet
MSC World Asia will bring the largest Venchi chocolate experience in the MSC Cruises fleet to its new South Caribbean itineraries.
The expanded onboard venue will combine live chocolate production with Italian gelato, customizable chocolate bars and exclusive creations developed for the ship. Travelers will be able to watch chocolate being prepared while exploring a venue designed around Venchi’s Italian confectionery heritage.
Among the exclusive additions will be Crunchy Waves, a new gelato flavor created for MSC World Asia.
The Venchi experience will become part of MSC World Asia’s broader collection of dining, shopping and entertainment venues when the ship enters service in December 2026.

The Harbour will bring outdoor family attractions to warm-weather sailings
The Harbour will serve as one of MSC World Asia’s primary outdoor family districts. The redesigned space will combine waterslides, an adventure course, recreational areas, family activities and food and beverage venues within an open-air setting. Its location near the stern will provide surrounding ocean views while connecting several of the ship’s outdoor attractions. The Harbor’s open-air design should be especially well suited to the warm temperatures and tropical scenery expected throughout MSC World Asia’s South Caribbean season.

The Clubhouse will expand family entertainment aboard MSC World Asia
MSC World Asia will also introduce The Clubhouse, a flexible family entertainment venue with a colorful, retro-inspired design.
The venue is expected to host game shows, interactive competitions, scheduled activities and other programming designed for families and multigenerational groups. Together, The Clubhouse and The Harbour will expand the selection of dedicated family spaces available aboard MSC World Asia during its Caribbean cruises.

The Spiral at Tree of Life will anchor the World Promenade
MSC World Asia’s open-air World Promenade will feature the Spiral at Tree of Life, a large dry slide connecting different levels of the ship. Surrounded by illuminated architecture, dining and entertainment venues, the attraction will serve as one of the promenade’s central visual features. The ship’s collection of outdoor spaces—including the World Promenade and The Harbour—will help connect the onboard experience with the tropical destinations visited during its South Caribbean deployment.

MSC World Europa will remain in the Western Mediterranean
While MSC World Asia moves to the Caribbean, MSC World Europa will continue sailing in the Western Mediterranean during Winter 2027–2028.
The ship had previously been scheduled to reposition to the Middle East. Under the updated deployment, it will instead remain in Europe and operate seven-night Western Mediterranean cruises.
The itineraries are expected to include calls at:
Barcelona, Spain
Marseille, France
Genoa, Italy
Civitavecchia, Italy
Messina, Italy
Valletta, Malta

Embarkation will be available from several ports along the itinerary, giving travelers options for beginning their cruise in Spain, France, Italy or Malta. Keeping MSC World Europa in the region will provide continued winter access to one of MSC Cruises’ largest ships from several major European cruise ports.
What happens to existing MSC World Asia bookings?
Travelers booked on MSC World Asia’s previously announced Mediterranean cruises for Winter 2027–2028 will have their reservations updated. MSC Cruises said affected customers will be contacted directly with information about changes to their individual bookings. Because the available alternatives may depend on the original itinerary, departure date and embarkation port, travelers should review the communication issued for their specific reservation.
Those with independently arranged flights, hotels or transportation should wait for official information from MSC Cruises or their travel advisor before making changes.
MSC Meraviglia reservations will also be affected
Travelers booked on MSC Meraviglia’s previously scheduled South Caribbean cruises during Winter 2027–2028 will also receive updated booking information. The changes are connected to MSC World Asia taking over the cruise line’s South Caribbean deployment for the season. MSC Cruises said affected customers will be contacted directly regarding changes to their individual reservations.
MSC World Europa’s Middle East cruises are changing
Travelers booked on MSC World Europa’s previously scheduled Winter 2027–2028 Middle East sailings—and their travel advisors—are being contacted directly by MSC Cruises.
According to the cruise line, affected customers will receive information explaining their available options, including:
Transferring the reservation to another MSC Cruises sailing
Requesting a full refund
Travelers who made their reservation through a travel advisor should work directly with that advisor after receiving the official notice from MSC Cruises.
What the deployment change means for MSC Cruises
The updated Winter 2027–2028 schedule will give MSC Cruises two distinctly different World Class deployments.
MSC World Asia will bring the cruise line’s newest flagship and several of its newest onboard experiences to the South Caribbean. Meanwhile, MSC World Europa will continue operating in the Western Mediterranean instead of moving to the Middle East.
Replacing MSC Meraviglia with the newer and larger MSC World Asia also represents a notable capacity change for MSC Cruises in the South Caribbean.
For travelers, the updated deployment creates a new opportunity to experience MSC World Asia outside Europe while maintaining winter access to MSC World Europa from several Mediterranean embarkation ports.
Exact departure dates, fares, availability and port combinations will vary by sailing.
