Port Canaveral just rolled out the blue carpet — or maybe we should say the wake — for Royal Caribbean’s brand-new Star of the Seas! On August 9, this 248,663-ton Icon Class giant sailed into her new homeport for the very first time, and trust us… she didn’t just arrive, she made an entrance.

Locals and cruise fans lined Jetty Park to catch a glimpse as the world’s largest cruise ship glided into view, flanked by tugboats giving a water-cannon salute fit for royalty. You could hear the cheers and see the phones come out — because how often does the world's largest passenger ship sail into its own? OH, that's right, like every week now!

🌟 The Countdown to the Inaugural Season

Star of the Seas is here to kick off her inaugural season later this month, and the buzz is real. Before she welcomes her first guests, she’ll be part of a jam-packed week of celebrations — including her official naming ceremony on August 20, where none other than music icon Diana Ross will serve as godmother.

After that? She’s off on 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings, each including a stop at Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay. And yes, she’ll be doing it all from right here at Port Canaveral.

What’s Onboard? Short answer: Everything.

Calling Star of the Seas a “ship” almost feels unfair — she’s more like a floating vacation kingdom. Some highlights:

  • Category 6 Waterpark – the largest at sea, with six record-breaking slides.

  • Eight Neighborhoods – from lush Central Park to the jaw-dropping AquaDome.

  • Over 40 dining and drink spots – from casual grab-and-go to glamorous supper clubs.

  • Entertainment for days – Broadway-caliber shows, ice skating, laser tag, and more.

She’s designed for everyone — families, couples, adventure-seekers, and anyone who just wants to walk around with their jaw on the floor.

📍 Why Port Canaveral is the Perfect Match

For the Space Coast, Star of the Seas is more than just another ship — she’s an economic boost, a tourism magnet, and a whole new reason for cruise fans to flock to Florida’s east coast. Local businesses are already gearing up for the influx of passengers, and the port is ready to handle her with upgraded facilities at Cruise Terminal 1.

Bottom line? Star of the Seas has officially dropped anchor (figuratively) at Port Canaveral, and she’s about to take cruising — and this port — to a whole new level. Whether you’re booked for her maiden season or still daydreaming about it, one thing’s for sure: the Icon Class era has truly arrived. 🚢💙⚓
