Carnival Cruise Line Sets Sail into a New Era Down Under with Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter

Carnival Cruise Line has officially launched a thrilling new chapter in its Australian operations with the debut sailings of Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter, marking a major expansion of its regional footprint. The newly renamed and reimagined ships—formerly Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter of P&O Cruises Australia—set sail this weekend from Sydney and Brisbane, respectively, introducing even more Carnival-style fun to Aussie cruisers.

The two vessels were welcomed into the Carnival fleet with back-to-back celebrations. In Sydney, Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy led a spirited ceremony on Friday to christen Carnival Adventure, while Saturday's festivities in Brisbane spotlight Carnival Encounter, which will now call the Queensland capital home.

This expansion officially completes the integration of P&O Cruises Australia into the Carnival Cruise Line brand and brings Carnival’s global fleet to a record-breaking 29 ships, the largest in its 53-year history.

“Our expansion in Australia demonstrates incredible enthusiasm for our brand and we’re grateful to our loyal guests who continue to drive our ongoing growth, solidifying Carnival as the world’s most popular cruise line,” said Duffy. “Doubling the fun in our Australia homeports enables us to deliver more sailing options, offer more variety and deepen our partnerships in the Sydney and Brisbane communities.”

Together with Carnival Splendor and Carnival Luminosa, the new ships are expected to welcome more than 500,000 guests from Australia this year.

Fresh Fun, Familiar Favorites

While Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter have been thoroughly Carnival-ized, guests will find a seamless blend of the cruise line’s signature experiences and select P&O favorites that Aussie travelers have come to love. Highlights include fan-favorite dining venues like Luke’s Bar & Grill, energetic deck parties hosted by the Fun Squad, and the ever-popular Seuss at Sea and Camp Ocean for families.

Onboard, cruisers can dive into Carnival’s trademark blend of fun, with Build-A-Bear workshops, 80s Rock and Glow nights, side-splitting comedy shows, and adult-only spaces that balance the fun with moments of relaxation.

A Tech-Savvy Sailing

To enhance the onboard experience, the Carnival HubApp is now available on both ships, allowing guests to make dining reservations, book shore excursions, chat with fellow cruisers, and browse activity schedules—all from the convenience of their mobile devices.

Guests sailing aboard the new additions will also become part of the VIFP Club, Carnival’s loyalty program that rewards frequent cruisers with exclusive perks and promotions.

With this bold move, Carnival Cruise Line reinforces its commitment to the Australian market, offering more variety and opportunity for fun at sea than ever before. Whether it’s a quick getaway from Sydney or a tropical escape from Brisbane, the newly launched ships promise to make waves and memories for Aussie cruisers all year long.
