Terminal G Is Getting a Massive Glow-Up at PortMiami
PortMiami is turning the page on one of its oldest cruise terminals — and what’s coming next is bold, modern, and built for the future of cruising. Say goodbye to the aging Terminal G, and get ready for Royal Caribbean Group’s all-new mega-terminal designed to welcome the world’s largest ships, including Icon-class and Oasis-class vessels.

Out with the Old
Terminal G originally opened in 1999, built to serve ships like Voyager of the Seas when they were at the forefront of cruise innovation. But over two decades later, cruise ships have gotten much bigger — and Terminal G simply wasn’t keeping up.
That’s why, in July 2025, the old structure was officially demolished. The rebuild is being led by the Lemartec-NV2A Joint Venture, a team known for delivering major port infrastructure projects. It’s all part of a long-term public-private partnership between Royal Caribbean Group and Miami-Dade County, with investment commitments totaling over $2.8 billion.

A New Terminal Built for the Future
When construction wraps up in late 2027, the new Terminal G will be a high-capacity, state-of-the-art facility designed to deliver a seamless cruise experience from curb to ship. Highlights of the terminal include:
Designed for Icon- and Oasis-class ships
Daily passenger capacity of 7,000
Multi-level design separating arriving guests, departing guests, crew, and provisioning operations
A nine-story parking structure with integrated drop-off and bus access
Shore power-ready infrastructure to support cleaner port operations
Shared use by Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea
Smart Design Meets Miami Style
Terminal G is being designed by the renowned firm Bermello Ajamil & Partners, and the renderings reveal a striking, wave-inspired architectural approach. Expect high ceilings, natural lighting, and a modern, flowing layout that reflects the energy and vibrancy of Miami.
The new terminal is also designed with efficiency in mind, making passenger movement faster and smoother from the moment you arrive at the curb to the moment you step onboard.

Committed to Sustainability
Terminal G is being built to achieve LEED Silver certification, meaning it’s not just functional and beautiful — it’s also environmentally responsible. Features will include:
Energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems
Water-conserving fixtures
Sustainable building materials
On-site waste reduction and recycling systems
Shore power infrastructure that allows ships to plug in while docked, reducing emissions
The upgraded Terminal G will serve ships from Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea, helping ease the load on Terminal A while offering flexibility for a wider range of ships. It also allows for more Icon- and Oasis-class vessels to homeport in Miami, giving cruisers even more options when choosing a sailing from the world’s busiest cruise port.
